Crossed Paths, 2018

Miranda Whall's recent work Crossed Paths is a three-part project spanning Wales, Scotland and France, and is inspired by the short book The Living Mountain by Nan Sheperd. The first part of the project focuses on the bio-diverse Welsh Cambrian Mountains, where, in the summer and autumn of 2017, Whall crawled along 5.5 miles of sheep tracks wearing a sheep fleece and 15 lightweight, waterproof cameras. Footage edited from the cameras she wore, along with a documentary film, photographs, texts, and samples of upland plant matter, were displayed in her solo exhibition at Oriel Davies Gallery, Newtown, UK.

This book provides a document of the interdisciplinary Crossed Paths project and was published to co-inside with Whall's solo exhibition. It includes an introductory text by Simon Whitehead, photographs by Hannah Mann, Rhys Thwaites-Jones and Miranda Whall, poems by Zoe Skoulding, text by Phil Smith, map drawings by Miranda Whall, plant drawings by the Whall family and plant information by Mariecia Fraser.
